It’s kinda wild to write this.
So for those just arriving (first of all: welcome) I wrote about a different horseracing simulator’s April Fools thing that was already doing the “fillies as human girls” bit all the way back in 2014.
And since today Buena Vista got implemented I figured fuck it, let’s update the list yet again.
So without further ado…
Almond Eye
Back in the first post I noted that Almond Eye was one of a couple of designs made AFTER Uma Musume came into existence so it’s interesting to see them use the forehead mark and twintails emulating animal ears in the design.
Having both designs side to side it’s also interesting to see the contrast between “demure generic anime girl” (“generic” as in “from nondescript non-specific genre”, mind you) vs “determined sportsperson anime girl”.
Buena Vista
Interesting how even with the discarded design, the undercurrent seems to be “joyful, wholesome main heroine energy”.
Buena Vista is interesting because you can see shades of what they hoped to accomplish with Special Week around Season 1 and before, but that’s… a tangent for later.

Yeah, just two. I actually wanted to tackle this topic mainly because I’ve learned so much since last time I updated that post that I wanted to also think about the prospects of the still-unassigned girls with all the extra knowledge I have right now.
Lys Gracieux is probably inevitable given her connection to Almond Eye.
Hokuto Vega as a dirt-running filly would be something only Haru Urara has slotted into which is wild to think about.
Dance Partner has decent chances due to the Mayano/Marvelous/Laurel connection. Even with Bubblegum Fellow for that matter.
Snow Fairy feels a bit off still. It’s not even the fact that most of her career was overseas because she can even be an NPC ala Montjeau. Rather, it’s the fact that the Triple Tiara in 2010-2011 is still a bit of an unexplored period for the game… in fact, 2009 is explored because of Buena Vista and then 2012 with Gentildonna, meaning there’s a literal gap in those two.
Flower Park would be cool to see because honetly the stories of horses where they died early or lost a lot end up being some of the best in the game.
Toumei can definitely be added as an NPC ala St. Lite. I don’t think they’re gonna add more pre-1984 horses ala Maruzensky as playable characters, but I’m open to being proven wrong.
I REALLY wanna see them implement Apapane because the 2010 Oaks is the ONLY G1 race in Japan, INCLUDING BEFORE THEY WERE G1 to have ended in a draw. Even legendary dead heats like Scarlet and Vodka’s or Special Week’s and Grass Wonder’s were broken off after minutes of deliberation, and yet Apapane and Saint Emillion ended up being declared a tie, both won. Bonus points because Apapane then still went on to have the Triple Tiara.
